Wale – “Friends and Strangers” (Preview)

July 26th, 2010. Posted by: LetMeCallMarcus

“They don’t see my vision, grown man mission”

DMV MC Wale is scheduled to make his re-entrance into the mixtape game on August 3rd with More About Nothing, a sequel of sorts to his 2008 critically-acclaimed, Seinfeld-themed project The Mixtape About Nothing. Today, courtesy of Rap Radar, Mr. Folarin and DJ Omega introduce us to a track titled “Friends and Strangers” from the upcoming tape. We only get a verse but that should be enough to pique the interest of those who are already looking out for more from the Capitol City spitter. The sample, a personal favorite of mine, is from jazz saxophonist Ronnie Laws’ 1977 track of the same name.

June 22nd, 2010. Posted by: 2wentyWon

I got a gold name plate that says I wish you would” – LL Cool J.

If designer Kerri O’Connell had it her way, lyrics like this would all be replaced with “wood”. O’Connel has turned a personal wooden ring project into GoodWood NYC, one of New York’s newest major players in fashion accessories. Offering handmade, artistic pieces from custom rings, pendants, bracelets, to earings, GoodWood is catching the eyes of many notables such as The-Dream, Lebron James, Wale, Nas, and many more who have all been seen donning a custom GoodWood peice.  Get your’s now!

Wale – My Sweetie

April 9th, 2010. Posted by: 2wentyWon

So I never heard Wale’s ode-to-Nigeria record before I saw the music video. That’s probably because it was only available on iTunes as a bonus track to his Attention: Defecit album, and I’m the type of dude that prefers my music on CD, Cassete, 8-Track, Vinyl, Carrier Pigeons, etc…not only in the digital realm (nevermind that I’m a HotNewHipHop.com & FreshNewTracks.com frequenter). There’s nothing like flipping through CD inserts and checking out the pics and credits.

Wait, where was I? Oh yeah, new Wale Video.
Yea, this video is nice; the record is even greater. Produced by Apple Juice Kid, “My Sweetie” contains an infectious sample of the West-African staple “Let Me Love You” by Bunny Mack. Olubowale pays homage to his Nigerian roots by mixing english and Yoruba while reminiscing of when “mother used to take [him] to the african parties”

Wale – Chillin feat. Lady Gaga

March 30th, 2009. Posted by: 2wentyWon

Please don’t tell me you’ve been sleepin’ on Wale. If you have, it’s time to wake up. Wale just recently announced via twitter that his debut album, Attention: Deficit, should be dropping this June. I’ve been keeping an eye on this D.C. native for a couple of years now ever since I heard “Back in the Go-Go“, and I can safely say this dude is “already great, m*****f*** potential” (If you know where that quote is from, kudos to you).  Attention: Deficit will feature production by from Mark Ronson, Glitch Mob, Cool & Dre, David Sitek, and others. While waiting for the full-length studio album, be sure to pick up Wale’s Back to the Feature mixtape dropping April 29.

Check out the first single from his debut album, Chillin feat. Lady Gaga produced by Cool & Dre.
