The iPhone Is Finally A Smartphone

March 17th, 2009. Posted by: 2wentyWon

It’s taken Apple a couple of years but they have finally quelled iPhone owner’s desires; introducing iPhone OS 3.0. The good boys at Cupertino announced this morning over 100 new features coming to an iPhone and iPod touch near you. Among the long list of updates are the much fussed about features that have been missing from this device touting the “smartphone” tag: MMS, Copy & Paste, Stereo A2DP Bluetooth, and a system-wide search tool. There is still no support for running background applications but there is a very nice push-notification system that will alert you about updates on apps even if they’re not running.

Rudess Meets BeBot

February 24th, 2009. Posted by: 2wentyWon

This has to be one of the coolest iPhone/iPod Touch apps I’ve seen. BeBot is basically a four-voice analog synthesizer all controlled directly from the phone. It supports multi-touch and effects so you can create some really dense sounds all with your fingers. Bebot really reminds me of the Jazzmutant Lemur that some of you might have seen during Kanye and Daft Punk’s Grammy perfomance last year.

Check out this video of Jordan Rudess, keyboardist of Dream Theater, on the BeBot. The first 60 seconds are enchanting… yes, i said the word “enchanting”.

But it now for only $1.99 on iTunes!

Apple vs. Palm

February 5th, 2009. Posted by: 2wentyWon

By now most have heard about Palm’s beautiful savior the Pre. However, you probably have not heard of the boiling patents conflict between Apple and Palm. The new Palm Pre will be employing a multi-touch system along with other gestures much like the ones made famous by the Apple iPhone. This is where trouble starts.

Head over to engadget where Nilay Patel has written a fairly in-depth look at the cases both Apple and Palm can bring upon each-other regarding multi-touch and other patents.
