World’s Largest Drum Machine

August 25th, 2010. Posted by: 2wentyWon

Can’t get enough of music? Music software pioneers Propellerheads are touting their DDR-like dance pad as the world’s biggest drum machine, which might actually be true, considering that it’s projected on the tall Stockholm skyscraper. Check out a video of it in action after the jump to get a better idea of the size of this project.

Google Chrome OS Tablet

August 19th, 2010. Posted by: 2wentyWon

Google reportedly is in the midst of developing its own tablet computer and aims to launch its iPad killer on the busiest shopping day of the year, Black Friday.

Google is turning to its previous partners to create the new device, with handset maker HTC dishing up the hardware and Android-phone carrier Verizon providing the network connection.  But Google will be using its Chrome OS, not Android, as the operating system for the device.

Google’s tablet is expected to be heavily subsidized, a move that could pose a serious problem for Apple’s high-flying iPad with its $499 price tag. [via DailyFinance]

Emulator – Windows 7 Multi-touch MIDI Controller

August 6th, 2010. Posted by: 2wentyWon

I remember the first time I saw the JazzMutant – Lemur at Kanye West and Daft Punk’s performance during the 2008 Grammy Awards; that futuristic, Tron looking controller made me awe struck. Now all you DJs looking for that same touchscreen experience  but do not wanna drop 2G’s on a controller can cop Pablo Martin’s new multi-touch MIDI controller, Emulator. Running on Windows 7 (No Mac support), Emulator is designed to run on tablet PC and is compatible with Traktor Pro, Deckadance, Virtual DJ, Ableton and more.

Hit the jump for a quick video demo of the Emulator in action.

PVC Pipe Speakers

August 4th, 2010. Posted by: 2wentyWon

Somewhere out in the world a plumber got creative. Chicago designer Ikymagoo has created a handmade line of audio speakers made from PVC pipes. The speakers have a “nice sound and a very good sound stage, lots of low end bass for a small speaker”. I’m all for decorative items that fuse with utility. These are a winner. Available now at Etsy for $199.

Snake Game Comes to YouTube

July 26th, 2010. Posted by: 2wentyWon

As if watching wasn’t already a good way to procrastinate, now you can play Snake right inside many of YouTube’s videos.

On videos with the new playback style (the one with the thick red progress bar that narrows when you move the mouse away from it), click on the video window, then hold ‘left’ on your keyboard. The video can be paused or playing when you do this.

To try it yourself, I recommend the YouTube video of a plain black screen, which should become pretty popular with this discovery.

YouTube Snake is worth keeping in mind next time you’re watching something that drags on, but isn’t quite boring enough to stop watching entirely.

Solar Camera Strap Concept

June 28th, 2010. Posted by: 2wentyWon

Nothing sucks more than getting that low-battery notification. Especially when it means missing out on opportunities to capture some fresh moments on that fancy new DSLR you dropped some mad guap for. Designer Weng Jie has come up with a creative solution. Introducing the solar camera strap. His idea takes the normal camera strap and adds solar-film which will then give your attached camera enough juice to snap away. Hopefully we’ll see something like this come into production, because I know I’d hate to miss recording something like this.
