Surfside Union – Life’s A Beach (Mixtape)

The debut mixtape from Houston duo Danny Watts and My’Key Iso, better known as Surfside Union. If you’re a Pitchfork reader, just looking at the names of the artist and the mixtape, you could easily mistake this as a project from another chillwave band. And while there is definitely an influence of chillwave on this group’s joints (they even go in on the instrumental of Washed Out’s "Feel It All Around"), there’s no doubt that these dudes can spit. Ill rhymes combined with smooth beats and a chillwave aesthetic makes this a unique tape that’s worth multiple spins. Looking forward to more from them after this jawn. DL at the jump.
