Please don’t tell me you’ve been sleepin’ on Wale. If you have, it’s time to wake up. Wale just recently announced via twitter that his debut album, Attention: Deficit, should be dropping this June. I’ve been keeping an eye on this D.C. native for a couple of years now ever since I heard “Back in the Go-Go“, and I can safely say this dude is “already great, m*****f*** potential” (If you know where that quote is from, kudos to you). Attention: Deficit will feature production by from Mark Ronson, Glitch Mob, Cool & Dre, David Sitek, and others. While waiting for the full-length studio album, be sure to pick up Wale’s Back to the Feature mixtape dropping April 29.
Check out the first single from his debut album, Chillin feat. Lady Gaga produced by Cool & Dre.
Now who doesn’t remember Max and the Wild Things from Maurice Sendak’s Where the Wild Things Are? Well yep, the creative folk in Hollywood are making the story into a feature film directed by Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, Jackass, Flashing Lights) and produced by Tom Hanks (Band of Brothers, My Big Fat Greek Wedding). The film drops October 16. Instant Classic? I think so.
Oh yeah, H&M does men’s clothing; or should I say, strange men’s clothing. But more often than not they come out with some pretty nice designs. They have recently released on H&M.com, H&M Style Guide which will offer tips on specific styles, themes and fashions straiht from H&M designers. You can also check out the latest trends and create your own style to share with your fellow GFKs.
First up on H&M Style Guide, H&M teaches all of us stylistically challenged people how to rock the long lost art of denim.
Head on over H&M.com to take the whole course and graduate with a BA in Denim wear.
It’s taken Apple a couple of years but they have finally quelled iPhone owner’s desires; introducing iPhone OS 3.0. The good boys at Cupertino announced this morning over 100 new features coming to an iPhone and iPod touch near you. Among the long list of updates are the much fussed about features that have been missing from this device touting the “smartphone” tag: MMS, Copy & Paste, Stereo A2DP Bluetooth, and a system-wide search tool. There is still no support for running background applications but there is a very nice push-notification system that will alert you about updates on apps even if they’re not running.

This demo — from Pattie Maes’ lab at MIT, and spearheaded by student Pranav Mistry — was the buzz of TED. It’s a wearable data device that paves the way for data-rich interaction with the world. Imagine “Minority Report” and then some. Click the pic to see the demo.
This past wednesday Apple released the third generation of their popular iPod shuffle that has everyone with making that confused bitter beer face. Among the complains surrounding the device is the control set-up. All the controls for the device are embedded on the cord of the earbuds and none at all on the device. Yes, that means you can use your ultra-high fidelity noise-cancelling headphones you will have to buy an adaptor to be able to control the device. Did I mention the control is only one button and confusing as quantum physics implemented in a discrete-time fourier system of a digital signal processor on a sunday morning?
Still, the new shuffle is sleek, tiny, and definitely one of a kind. But the question always is “Is it fresh?”

Over the past couple of years, The–Dream has become, as he repeatedly boasts on Love vs. Money, a “radio killa . . . R&B gorilla.” The Atlanta recording studio that the singer — songwriter shares with beat magician Tricky Stewart became a virtual hit factory, churning out tuneful and inventive smashes for the likes of Rihanna (”Umbrella”) and Beyoncé (”Single Ladies”).
But with his second CD, the man born Terius Nash leaps into another league. These 14 songs draw on pro forma R&B subject matter: sex, sex in VIP rooms, breakup sex, makeup sex. But the combination of classicist songcraft, wild sound collage and a muse that partakes equally of the sensual and the silly makes Love vs. Money far more than just an accomplished genre piece. Am I showing my age? Perhaps. But you GFK – in – Trainings should have a history lesson every now and then. Way back in time, NikeiD used to be the “spot”, wherein creative juices flowed by creating and designing my own kicks. Fast forward to 2009, and the thrill is still there, so to speak. Naysayers point out that its essentially color coordinating and nothing more. To them I have some advice a la Jim Calhoun: Shut Up. Let the fashion designer inside of you out, without looking like one of Kanye’s cohorts…
…and see if you can come up with your very own Get Fresh Kicks. My own personal designs after the jump.
